anticomic VR screencast

My latest, extremely reduced and stylized VR art piece anticomic VR from 2026. Screencast directly from the headset. Like all works of my new anticomic project it is based on graphical artifacts from comic books, creating abstract works as dysfunctional comics dropping any narrative.

Developed with the open source Godot game engine, models created in Blender. As in many of my works, the sound design is equally important.

It was first shown in my solo exhibition Assorted Realities at XM3 - rum for samtidskunst Aalborg (DK) in June with a Quest3S headset.

purity and corruption

purity and corruption is a sound art installation created by artist Malte Steiner 2026 and first shown at his solo exhibition Assorted Realities 24. - 27. June 2026 at XM3 Aalborg (DK). Based on a XIAO SAMD21 microcontroller it generates with random parameters a pure sinus wave which got corrupted by another sinus wave by FM. The result is used to resonate a metal plate through a transducer which contributes to the corruption. The LEDs show the upper 8 bits of the 10 bit digital to analog converter of the microcontroller.

Piksel 25

Elektronengehirn is going to perform a concert at Piksel festival in Bergen, Norway on the 22. November at Østre. During Piksel Malte Steiner also shows the installation The Tradwives at the exhibition from 20.-23. November.

The Tradwives

Last year Malte Steiner learned that there is an antifeminist movement. Female antifeminists. Further research lead to the art installation The Tradwives: Three color e-paper screens generate and show unsupervised and uncensored collages of material which was data-scraped from Tradwife influencer profiles on Instagram. The material was first decomposed with Machine Learning into smaller bits which within the installation are rearranged to ever changing collages.

body_hacker aka Sall Lam Toro (1990) is an antidisciplinary multimedia artist and organizer based in Copenhagen working with ecoerotic cosmologies of black queer imagination, refusal, glitches, rituals and transcorporeal embodiment. They are currently finishing an MA in performing arts as critical practice at the malmö theater academy at the university of Lund. They are part of different formed and unformed housing, organizing and artistic queer collectives.

Madsen shows [proximity] sensing in, sensing out 

What would happen if the focus were solely on the senses and the ephemerality of gestures and listening as the work of art itself? What if the act of facilitating relation(s) becomes a way to transversally connect to a place, a neighborhood, a city?

Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen’s installation at Oksasenkatu 11 is a laboratory where listening and sensing, moving and relating are core focal points. It is an ephemeral entity which is inhabited by lines of gestures, notes and reflections created collaboratively in the space by the artist and the participating audience. The laboratory installation additionally moves in and outside the gallery space, out in the park, to the street. It accommodates every-body, and it focuses on the micro for us to be aware of the macro. By relating to both what is here and what is absent, we learn about the privilege of the space but also about its potentiality for change. The installation is thought to be a transformational and experimental format which holds exchange as a crucial element, and consists of only minor elements to assist this process.

During the laboratory installation, Madsen will facilitate Deep Listening® sessions, geological listening propositions, and other interventions (both scheduled and spontaneously). Additionally, Madsen has invited guest artists to facilitate moments which relate to sensing, affective listening, queer corporeality and other modalities of knowing. These meetings connect to an embodied and embedded posthuman subjectivity which extends into other agencies and modalities of the world.

Steiner shows Absolute Power : Ohnmacht

Malte Steiners art project Absolute Power reflects since 2019 on power structures in politics, society and private life. The exhibition Absolute Power : Ohnmacht in Oksasenkatu 11 shows with several art pieces the consequences of the perceived powerlessness of the individual. The responses to loss of power vary widely and often they are the retreat into the private world of the nuclear family. The exhibition goes further by examining the new conservative and restrained world of so-called tradwives through an e-paper installation which generates art based on data scraped from Instagram.

Another response to the concept of Ohnmacht is anxiety and as a central part of the

installation, Steiner has created a panic room for Oksasenkatu 11 which could cause panic attacks. Additionally, at the extreme end of the spectrum is the exemplified attempt to reclaim power through violent acts which is e.g. seen in mass shootings.

The four art pieces which constitute Absolute Power: Ohnmach are ranging from paintings to computer-controlled electronic displays, and they are shown in Helsinki for the first time.

RIP Hedwig Westphal

RIP Hedwig Westphal who died being 90 in July in Hamburg. She supported the art installation Zimmer Der Zukunft by Jens Volkmann and Malte Steiner in 1986 / 1987, for instance in regards of the payout of the funding, because both were 15 / 16 years old back then and normally you have to be 18 to receive it.

Elektronengehirn concert video from 8. September

The Metabolism of the Earth is a solo-exhibition by Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen which takes place in XM3 - rum for samtidskunst (space for contemporary art) from May 5. to 29. 2023. Through performative grips, it works with nature's own processes and its state as the thematic framework where the artworks are all created as dialogues and collaborative processes between matter, wind, and weather. Madsen here wants to focus on what is happening around us and how human and non-human agents are influencing each other, their affective states and relationships. The Metabolism of the Earth thus activates performance art, sound, video, bio art, notations and listening scores, all of which are linked to micro-meetings with the state of the earth, here described as a metabolism. These have all been started as fieldwork and at artistic residencies in the Nordic countries from approx. 2008 to the present (in Denmark, Norway, Iceland and Finland). The exhibition also includes the newly produced video work Hidden Agency and a publication with listening scores that moves across the mentioned conditions and is unfolding Madsen's methodical use of the potentials of listening.

The Metabolism of the Earth thus merges retrospective material with newly produced works which are all relating to XM3 and the local context. It is created and based on different processes (and primarily) natural materials, matter, and their transversal relationships and impacts under a given condition. These are anchored in the connections between, for example, the geological and lithic – here soil, gravel and rocks; ice, salt and melting(s); water and plants as natural indicators; as well as the shaping and sculptural forces of the wind. Additionally, there will be performances and performative happenings on selected days where elements of the exhibition are activated, as well as an artist talk. For the opening on May 5th, there will be a solo-performance by Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen, and on Saturday May 27th, there will be sound performances with TMS (duo with Madsen and artist Malte Steiner), as well as solo sound performances from both Madsen and Steiner.

In order to introduce and focus on a sensory approach to understanding the processes which are taking place around us, Madsen will during the exhibition facilitate local listening sessions linked to the exhibition's theme at selected locations in Aalborg and Nørresundby, based on the listening score publication "the composite geology of place – affective listening with a (post)industrial landscape" which Madsen has created specifically for this context. The planned listening sessions will here be dialogues with selected places, their characteristics and potentials, geology and mineralogy, construction and social communities.

Tina Mariane Krogh Madsen is a Danish artist, researcher, and lecturer, with a background as an art educator from The College of Arts Crafts and Design (DK) and a MA in Art History from Aarhus University (DK). Madsen is currently working on a doctoral thesis in artistic research at Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Art and Media (FI). Madsen also works with Deep Listening and performance instructions as an artistic discipline and is certified from the renowned Center for Deep Listening, Rensselaer Polytech Institute (US). Madsen has worked within the performative art field since 1998, and founded in 2019 the nomadic platform performance protocols, grounded in instruction-based art, performance, and collaborative practices. Madsen has presented their art internationally in many formats and contexts, primarily within the field of performance art and sound art, with nature, environment, and the affective as their main focus point. Madsen is a member of BKF (Danish Visual Artists) and The Finnish Bioart Society.The Metabolism of the Earth is supported by Aalborg Municipality.
